Here Come The Holidays...The Reason For The Season
|
Well ladies the holidays are upon us. Wow, what happened to spring and summer? The world is moving so fast that sometimes we get so involved in work and preparation for other activities, that we allow important things to go by without a thought. Did you have time for your family this summer? A picnic where you set and listened to the old timers telling stories that happened forty years ago. Did you push your children or grandchildren on a swing? Did you take a long walk |
with your spouse? As I look back, I don't think I did many of these things. I have found that a lot of my time was spent at work. Don't get me wrong. I like my job and thank God for it, but I really need to prioritize my time. I think that during this Holiday season I am going to take a look at what truly is important. I don't think that a perfectly clean house or how I decorated for the Holidays matter much to my grandkids. They just want my attention. So, I guess your asking yourself, "How in the world am I going to do that"?
The first and most important thing that I want to do this year is remember the true reason for the season. The birth of our Lord and Savior. The One who was born into this world so that I may be saved and have eternal life in heaven. I also want to remember that in this world there are people that are not as fortunate as I am and be sensitive to what God is telling me to do for them. Next, I want to spend more time with God in study and prayer. I do have a set time to read the word and pray in the mornings, but I'm talking about a deep study into God's Word, listening to what He is telling me through revelation. I think if I can do this my life will come into line. He will show me what is important, what I need to do to meet every need and be able to enjoy the journey. I'm also going to pray about what activities I'm involved in. Are there things that God has not called me to be involved with? Sometimes I have a tendency to do things because it just seems to be a good thing. I am finding that if God calls you to do something it will be a pleasure and you can't wait to do it. You never get tired of things God has called you to or get burned out. But what about the things that just seem to wear you out and you get frustrated everytime you think about it? Maybe that's not where God wants you to be. Each of us need to examine these areas, seek God and make decisions.

I want to have a balanced life. A time for God, my husband, my family, my church and my job.
As you prepare for the Holidays, take a look at what your doing and seek God to help prioritize your life and time. Remember the true reason for the season. You will be so much happier , less tired and a whole lot less stressed.
